- ‘Just My Style’ is the succulent new single from the Leeds-based artist
- The first glimpse of his forthcoming EP due for release in December
- A fluorescent romance of bluesy psych-pop
The latest offering from the Leeds-based Honey Guide – AKA Jacob Andrews – captures the tumultuous headiness born from the nervous first trysts between soon-to-be lovers. Cutting a suave, smooth-talking figure across its five-plus minutes of succulent, blues-tinctured psych, ‘Just My Style’ flushes with heated romance. It glows with heart-strung riches, as a whole resembling one long, mellowing delight, sweetened by Andrews’ softly-mouthed, weak-knee’d confessions – “you start a fire with your fingertips”, for example.
Recalling Kevin Morby’s chill-out Americana, and blurred by that Demarco-esque haze, ‘Just My Style’ tastefully flows and ebbs, until the climatic coda releases a fluorescent sunburst of wah-wah wobbles, fluttering synths and, finally, a noble, sinuous saxophone soaring high in triumphantly passionate glory. Released on Bam Bam Records, founded by fellow scenesters Eades, ‘Just My Style’ offers us a glimpse into Honey Guide’s forthcoming EP ‘A Tidy Room is a Tidy Mind’, due for release on 10th December.
