“Are you a Vampire? We take on so many forms”
Brisbane trio The Goon Sax are set to release their third and highly anticipated album ‘Mirror II’, described by Matador Records (who are releasing the record) as “a new beginning, a multi-dimensional eclectic journey of musical craftsmanship that moves from disco to folk to no wave skronk with staggering cohesion”. If the first single is any indication, Matador are spot on. ‘In The Stone’ is a reflection of modern pop and a slight deviation from some of their previous work. It is an absolute thrill.
‘In The Stone’ has so many thoughtful and meticulous components working in its favour. From the relentless yet understated groove to the dual lead vocals. From the indelible guitar flourishes to the dark lyrical imagery. It is a song that grabs you instantly and refuses to let you go. It will beg you to play it repeatedly, and will be the puppeteer pulling the strings, ensuring it lingers and dances around your head multiple moons after your last listen.
‘In The Stone’ is out now and precedes their upcoming full length LP ‘Mirror II’, which is out tomorrow (July 9th) via Matador Records.
