For those that fell in love with the My Bloody Valentine fuzz and romantic yearning channeled by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, the dissolution of the band in 2019 was undoubtedly distressing. The only way to fully mend those broken hearts, ironically enough, would be to listen to new music by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart; a conundrum with no easy answer in sight.

Fortunately, Kip Berman, a founding member of the band, has been quietly working on solo material for the past few years under the moniker The Natvral, and recently dropped a new single entitled ‘Why Don’t You Come Out Anymore?’. Rest assured, those broken hearts can start the healing process and become whole again, as this track captures the immediacy and spirit of past TPOBPAH greats, while deftly creating a distinct identity and charting a rejuvenated path forward for Berman. Think Dean Wareham with a shot of adrenaline.

‘Why Don’t You Come Out Anymore?’ will be on The Natvral’s first full length album TethersTethers was recorded in only seven days with well-known producer Andy Savours, with Berman noting in the press release “It wasn’t so much a decision about how to work. It was the only way to do it. I had these songs, but not much time, so we just tracked everything as quickly and in the moment as we could and hoped for the best”. The album will also feature an impressive list of Berman’s past collaborators, including Kyle Forester of Crystal Stilts and Woods. Tethers will be released on April 2nd 2021.
