Alex Lahey // ‘Between The Kitchen And The Living Room’

Words: Sharc Bolan / @sharcbolan

  • The whole EP was recorded during quarantine in different rooms of her family house.
  • Already pre-released tracks, these have been totally re-imagined for this record. Released via Dead Oceans.
  • Her ‘Like A Version’ cover of ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ earned her the 83rd position on Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2019.

Ok, we admit we may be a little late to the party here (but what can you expect with everything going on?!), though we still thought we’d let anyone else who wasn’t up to speed in on this too.

Melbourne’s Lahey surprised fans with this EP after her US tour got cancelled and she was cooped up in a small room in her mother’s home. Fear not, you may be able to catch her in the U.K. opening up for The Regrettes next month (pandemic-permitting, although likely to be rescheduled as things look)!

For her most intimate release to date, be sure to check out ‘Between The Kitchen And The Bathroom’ (which happens to go via the laundry room, hallway and attic). Full EP playlist below:
