Dead Nature // ‘Hurricane’

  • Dead Nature is the new project from Tarek Musa, formerly of Spring King.
  • The singer has also produced bands like Circa Waves, The Big Moon and Genghar.
  • FFO: Indoor Pets, Baby Strange & Courting.

Following up being in a band like Spring King is no mean feat. They were signed to Island Records, toured the UK and were one of the UK’s hottest indie bands. Dead Nature is singer Tarek Musa’s new venture. The band’s latest release ‘Hurricane’ is three minutes of energetic, questioning guitar indie.

Fizzing guitars and a hard-hitting rhythm section are the name of the game for Dead Nature. Their EP ‘Taking My Shadow’ set the tone in 2019, and the band’s newer material is a fresher, more mature take on their formula. The layered lead vocal is a new, interesting sound backed up by a furious instrumental. ‘Hurricane’ also features backing vocals from Calva Louise’s Jess Allanic, who Musa had been producing in his studio.

It’s an impressive release that could cement Dead Nature’s place as a band to watch in the next few months. Here’s hoping there are gigs on the horizon, because these tunes are made for a sweaty venue with a warm, overpriced beer.
