Slowly becoming a staple on the Norwegian festival scene and starting to make her way onto UK stages, Maud is making waves in all the right places with just two releases. Growing up in isolated northern Norway, Maud has a sound and style unlike anyone on the scene at the moment. Her debut single ‘Real’ is dark and menacing and latest release ‘Bad Things’ is no different.

The synths that open ‘Bad Things’ provide a massive sense of atmosphere before the bass kicks in, and Maud’s signature vocal sound becomes the focus of the track. While some might say the track is over-produced, the layers of synths and Maud’s hypnotic vocal style reinforce the theme of disconnection that runs throughout. “The track explores a sense of lack of belonging, and a growing feeling of hopelessness” says Maud. Given the current climate, the song has also taken on a new meaning. She says “I hope people can relate to this song, knowing they’re not alone in feeling sad or anxious right now”. It’s an attitude that Maud’s fans will appreciate, and finding hope in her dark and intense music is easier than you might think. With her debut album due next year and live music returning (hopefully around the same time), Maud will be hitting the ground running in 2021.
