  • ‘Wild Bill’ is the latest release from Brighton band Opus Kink.
  • The sextet are known for their lively stage performances.
  • Released via Nice Swan Records.

What a band Opus Kink are. Their live performances are notorious on the London and Brighton live circuit: the energy that radiates from the band is as infectious as the psych-punk-spaghetti western music they put out. Support from Steve Lamacq, NME and Clash Magazine has propelled them forward in the past few years and thanks to these developments, Opus Kink now rub shoulders with the likes of Courting and Hotel Lux on Nice Swan Records.

Their latest release ‘Wild Bill’ is three minutes of non-stop western-infused funk. Singer Angus Rogers’ poetic song-writing sits amongst the chaos, telling the rollercoaster story of the mysterious Wild Bill. It’s a brilliant combination that bodes well for future releases. While their previous two-track release ‘Faster Than the Radio/Mosquito’ was good, ‘Wild Bill’ is where the band really come into their own.

It’s hard to put your finger on what it is Opus Kink do that make them so good. The combination of genres is refreshing and with a ridiculously good live show to boot, Opus Kink are one of the most exciting British acts on the scene right now.
